The idea that saying something and having a lizard make a sound will cause it to come true is likely rooted in folklore or superstition rather than any scientific basis. In many cultures, animals, including lizards, are often associated with omens or signs, but there is no evidence to support that their sounds have any actual influence on reality or the fulfillment of spoken words. It could be a playful belief or a metaphorical expression rather than a literal truth.

It's a matter of superstition. Gauli Shastra, or Gouli Shastram, is a method of predicting future evens based on the sounds made by a lizard. ... Gouli means house lizard and the sounds made by Gouli is seen as omen of good or bad things to come.

As of hindu religious belief they are stating out that, it will mention the upcoming good things in their life which means, if a person has bee...

I once met a man who drove a modest Toyota Corolla, wore beat-up sneakers, and looked like he’d lived the same way for decades. But what really caught my attention was when he casually mentioned he was retired at 45 with more money than he could ever spend. I couldn’t help but ask, “How did you do it?”

He smiled and said, “The secret to saving money is knowing where to look for the waste—and car insurance is one of the easiest places to start.”

He then walked me through a few strategies that I’d never thought of before. Here’s what I learned:

1. Make insurance companies fight for your business

Most people just stick with the same insurer year after year, but that’s what the companies are counting on. This guy used tools like Coverage.com to compare rates every time his policy came up for renewal. It only took him a few minutes, and he said he’d saved hundreds each year by letting insurers compete for his business.

Click here to try Coverage.com and see how much you could save today.

2. Take advantage of safe driver programs

He mentioned that some companies reward good drivers with significant discounts. By signing up for a program that tracked his driving habits for just a month, he qualified for a lower rate. “It’s like a test where you already know the answers,” he joked.

You can find a list of insurance companies offering safe driver discounts here and start saving on your next policy.

3. Bundle your policies

He bundled his auto insurance with his home insurance and saved big. “Most companies will give you a discount if you combine your policies with them. It’s easy money,” he explained. If you haven’t bundled yet, ask your insurer what discounts they offer—or look for new ones that do.

4. Drop coverage you don’t need

He also emphasized reassessing coverage every year. If your car isn’t worth much anymore, it might be time to drop collision or comprehensive coverage. “You shouldn’t be paying more to insure the car than it’s worth,” he said.

5. Look for hidden fees or overpriced add-ons

One of his final tips was to avoid extras like roadside assistance, which can often be purchased elsewhere for less. “It’s those little fees you don’t think about that add up,” he warned.

The Secret? Stop Overpaying

The real “secret” isn’t about cutting corners—it’s about being proactive. Car insurance companies are counting on you to stay complacent, but with tools like Coverage.com and a little effort, you can make sure you’re only paying for what you need—and saving hundreds in the process.

If you’re ready to start saving, take a moment to:

These small beliefs are made to ensure to avoid awkward situations or to bypass negativity associated with somethings that are considered unsocial and still happen involuntarily.

The belief in the question is to ensure that sneezing will not interrupt the conversation in a bitter manner, instead ensures that the speaker feels positive thoughts or at least removes the negativity around the sneezing.

There are many other such silly beliefs

  1. If you find a hair strand in the food given by someone else, then the relationship between them would become stronger. This is to avoid the awkward situation or yukky thoughts that arise due to hair strands. The falling of hair strand could be genuine oversee from the person who has offered food. But just because of this the taker should not reject instead end this in a more positive manner.
  2. If you get hiccups while you eat, then people would say that someone close to you is now thinking of you. This is to ensure that the person who gets hiccups doesn’t feel awkward. And also to divert the attention of the person suffering from hiccups, which may also stop the hiccup.
  3. If you meet some person, and the person is talking about you, he would say, “May you live for 100 years! We were just discussing about you.” This is said, to ensure that the person who talks about you conveys that he is not speaking ill about you. While you enter you may or may not heard. But in case you heard your name being discussed, but not sure, whether it is something good or bad, you might think it is something bad. To remove that negativity and ensure positive flow of conversation, this might be said.

There are various other such beliefs in day to day life we have in ourselves. Instead of taking these seriously or going against it, let us just embrace with positive.

A Lizard making ‘çlick’ sound is supposed to be a confirmation of your thinking. This is a very long held belief. In case the ‘click’ sound makes your resolution firm or consolidates your faith in achieving your goal, it will work in most cases.

If that sound does not trigger your faith in the future happening, or goes unnoticed, it will have 50–50 chance like the placebo effect. Some may get cured without medicine or some with medicine.

If one can use natural indications to favor his thought process, in most cases these things do work.

Rooms were not assigned by rank, but by longevity and the number of lizards in each room. It seemed that the lizards were rather territorial, and if you lizard-napped a lizard from one room and put it in another, it would return to its original room at the first opportunity. The most in-demand rooms had the most lizards, with the “seven lizard room” being at the top, and the no-lizard-room being the pits. So, when one resident left, the next senior guy in terms of longevity got to move into a higher-lizard room. The reason? The little green lizards would make very short work of almost all annoying flying insects! Although they could not fly, they would scale the walls, walk upside down across the ceiling and were very good at leaping and diving.

Since the totem animal lizard means you are a true warrior who can withstand difficult circumstances and situations, and also is supposed to guard otherworld treasure or knowledge, if you see one in your yard, it is a good omen I would think. It means you are alot stronger than you know you are, will survive the circumstances and situations you are in in life.

I live in Florida. They usually stay outside, mine, but sometimes they’ll make it into the house. They don’t really dig it so much in there. Out here’s where they make a living.

These dudes know how to make a living.

What it means is, you’re in the middle of a thriving ecosystem, probably a warmish part of the world, and those lizards are living it up on BUGS, most likely. So the more lizards you see, say hi to fewer bugs.

Of course the bugs must be doing okay, too, or else say hi to fewer lizards! It’s a balancing act, where neither side gives much away. They’re just at it tooth and claw, or whatever buggish equivalent. Pincer and…tippy-foot thing. Ever seen a bug’s foot? They’re tiny! Scuttle along, bug - this here patio’s lizard country.

I love the lizards. They’re our buddies. Mine like to bask! They prop themselves up on their forelimbs and do these little pushup deals, bopping their heads up and down. This flap extrudes from their neck, out and back. It’s sexy, they think - and as there sure are a lot of ‘em, odds are they’re right. Sometimes you walk in on two of them entwined on a wall, or the screen. They make a beautiful design in intercurling bodies as they clutch motionless, exchanging genetic information. Then they break and split - one of them tears ass out of there! The dude, I suspect. Soon enough, somewhere there’s a clutch of eggs. Then little lizards!

The little ones eat the tiniest bugs.

Sometimes the bigger ones eat the littlest ones, but it must be only if they’re sick or something. Otherwise, it wouldn’t work so out well for a thriving population! It’s all natural, how they do it. I can’t criticize. We have our mores, they have not.

I’d say it means all good things, Mariette Venter. I’d say it means you live in the midst of life, and have a curious mind and a heart open to wonder. Thank you for the Answer request.

So my answer will be based on that.

Lizards eat insects. At times you will see them chasing a houseflies or mosquitoes. In short they kill parasitic insects. The chase may end up into your house and the lizard may get stranded.

They are not harmful. If u see them they are helping you get rid of harmful insects.

There is an appeal, a strong appeal that we shouldnt be killing, rather safely remove them out of the house, they are an important equation in the balance of nature.

May be spiritualist can help u about the meaning, as for me, i believe hunger attracts them to food source.

Most lizards can merely hiss, but the group of animals called geckos can make a variety of squeaks, chirps, chitters, and croaks. :)

Sweet! I’m going to name him George!

To be honest, we name almost everything in the area.

Foliage Floyd (houseplant).

Roland (rolling table).

Flinch (can’t remember the name of the plant that folds its leaves when you touch it).

Rumble, Spooky and Charlie, of course (cats).

Gloria is the tree they cut down this year because she was dropping leaves on the roof and the apartment management company didn’t like cleaning them off. (I think she’ll survive. Broadleaf maples are hard to kill and there are TONS of little things pushing up out of the ground above her roots.)

Not much of a significance. In shakuna shastra, it is some what relevant. A shakuna is more like a symptom of the problem. A shakuna is one of the subtle way to understand some cause and effect in the grand scheme of cosmos, however distantly related to us. It is not much of a consequence, if you have the will to avoid it. Meaning that whatever inauspiciousness comes out of it can be avoided by praying to god or lighting a deepam before god and taking a head bath. There are remedies it. So, in effect it need not always bother you.

Fun fact is that in South India, in kanchi, there is a mandapam

Fun fact is that in South India, in kanchi, there is a mandapam in temple with golden and silver lizards. So, the idea is if you touch the golden lizArd there, you will be exempted from all future effects of lizard falls:)

There's more. If you happen to touch a person who has visited the mandapam, the ill effects won't hurt you even then.

The point here is there's not much need to break your heads over it. In case of doubt, do light a lamp (deepam) before god after taking a head bath.

Geckos are one of the few non-avian reptiles that are truly vocal. They have a fairly well developed larynx comprised of cricoid and arytenoid cartilages forming the skeletal elements, and accompanying constrictor and dilator muscles to alter their shape to adjust tension on the vocal cords running between the cricoid and arytenoid cartilages. So, similar to ourselves, air is forced from the lungs via constriction of the intercostal muscles, as it passes through the larynx, the vocal cords vibrate with particular frequencies that produce a resonance, and voila, noise is produced.
